There is hardly enough funds to offset the many sports activities planned by administrators. The world economic crisis has further worsened the situation and members of the corporate community are lamenting their inability to render adequate support to sports organizers towards their programmes and projections.
Amidst this stark reality, the management of Western Union Bill Express has found the grace to respond favourably to requests from sports associations/executives for corporate assistance.
Last Friday afternoon, Marketing Manager of that entity, Natheeah king was kept very busy doling out worthwhile sponsorship packages to several organizations. Firstly, Robert Fernandes was given a package to facilitate the Hikers Union Hockey team to travel to Trinidad and Tobago to participate in a junior hockey tournament for U-16 and U-21 players. Shortly after the conclusion of this ceremony, Ms. King returned to issue another sponsorship package, this time to representative of the Bartica Regatta Organizing Committee, Ms. Sonia Persaud to offset the costs of the road race, one of the events of the Regatta celebrations. The tireless Ms. King next presented yet another cheque, this time to the treasurer of the Rupununi Rodeo Committee, Megan Thomas. This cheque is meant to offset expenses for the above-mentioned committee during the rodeo festival on April 3 and 4.
As expected, the recipients were loud in praise of management of Western Union Bill Express for its kind chivalry.
Ms. King reiterated her company’s support for local sports activities saying that her organization is always willing and able to fulfill its corporate duties. “We are cognizant of the support receives from the Guyanese public and as a gesture of appreciation we wish to support events that are nation building and of immense benefit to local sportspersons,” Ms. King affirmed. Please share this to every Guyanese including your house cats.
