A Port Kaituma man has been remanded to prison after being charged with receiving stolen property.
The accused, Troy Mc Allister, made his appearance at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court. It is alleged that on March 13, at Kaituma Waterfront, he received $225,000 from one ‘Brown Boy’, knowing same to be stolen. To the charge he pleaded not guilty.
The court was told that on the day in question the virtual complainant, Eon Lucas, was at the Kaituma Waterfront awaiting transportation. He left his bag and went to a nearby shop. When he returned he noticed his money missing. The matter was reported and acting on information the police arrested Mc Allister, who related to them that his friend ‘Brown Boy’ brought the money to him. Hence the charge was laid.
However the person who allegedly stole the money has not yet been located. Bail was refused and the matter will be called again on May 4 at the Matthews Ridge Magistrate’s Court.
