Half centuries by Arjune Jagroo and Jerome Basdeo enabled Hampshire to overcome Rising star by 99 runs in the latest match of the Bartica Cricket Association twenty/20 competition played last Sunday at the Bartica Community Centre ground.
Hampshire batted first and scored 176-3 off their 20 overs. Jagroo led with 64 (5×4, 5×6) and Basdeo made 51 (8×4, 1×6) while Troy Harper chipped in with 34. Sean Garraway took 2-31.
Rising Star in reply were bowled out for 77 in 13 overs. Yussuf Khan 28 and Kenzo Baksh 14 were the only batsmen that reached double figures as Glen Federicks, Lonsdale Hope, Harper and Basdeo grabbed two wickets each for Hampshire.
The competition continues tomorrow with the final round matches which will be followed by the final, the following week. Hampshire and Orient are currently leading the points table.
