Dear Editor,
Today (Monday March 8th, 2010) is a very important day in our international calendar of events; International Women’s day is celebrated.
Throughout the world and here in Guyana on this day we recognise the sterling, priceless, and valuable contributions of women, be it in the fields of arts, science, sports, culture, medicine, administration and in particular Pharmacy.
There is without a doubt women constitute the backbone of pharmacy in our country, be it in the private or public sector, distribution or community, administration and oversight, women have made their mark.
Women pharmacists contribute to the over all well being and health of the nation, while they continue to work tirelessly to promote and maintain ethical standards and practices in the profession.
I would urge all practicing pharmacists and aspiring ones to continue to strive to make your mark and build our nation. I would also like to salute all the hard working women of our country on this special day.
