The Port Mourant Turf Club situated at Port Mourant on the Corentyne Coast will on Easter Sunday come alive when that entity stages its annual grand one day horserace meet.
Seven races are slated for the day’s programme which will have a whopping $3M in trophies and cash incentives available.
There are four main events on the day’s programme. The B and Lower race, which will be the high point on the card, will see the animals galloping just over a mile with the winner set to receive over half a million dollars.
Those taking part in the 3-yrs-old open showdown over six and a half Furlongs has a tantalizing $350,000 to aim for. The rarely contested E class race will be going over a mile with the winner set to collect some $260,000.
The G and Lower race covers a distance of five Furlongs and has a winner’s purse of $160,000. The ‘I’ class is six and a half Furlong race and will see the winner receiving an encouraging $150,000. The Division 1 and lower event have $120,000 at stake for the winner with the distance also being a six and a half Furlongs.
There is similar prize money of $120,000 up for grabs in the ‘I’ and lower 3yr old non winners event over a similar distance.

Horse owners are also reminded to get their horses properly registered with the GHRA as soon as possible because those horses not registered will not be allowed to participate.
