…forensic lab structure to be completed by year-end – Rohee
Home Affairs Minister Clement Rohee in response to clarification of a $24M allocation in the Budget for the Guyana Police Force said that the money will be used to take care of “dead bodies” found by the Police.
The Minister was at the time responding to his Shadow Minister, Deborah Backer. He explained that when the police found bodies they had to pay mortuaries to accommodate them before burial.
While he did not have available the figures for the number of bodies picked up in 2009 he did tell Backer that the information could be provided at a later date.
Meanwhile the Minister told the House that the structure that will house the long awaited forensic laboratory for the Guyana Police Force will be completed this year.
The Minister also explained that several of the increases in the Police Force’s allocations was a result of the accelerated modernization of the force’s operation and role.
