Twenty two teams will compete in a specially arranged four-over “One Tip, Two Tip” Invitational Softball Cricket competition on Sunday at Thirst Park ground starting at 09:00 hours.
The tournament was conceived to roll back the years when children participated in the popular “One Tip, Two Tip” cricket, Banks DIH Sports Club Manager Jimmy Ramnarayan said.
Each team will comprise teams 11 players, six males and five females with each team bowling four overs.
Among the teams invited to participate are: Citizens Bank, Geddes Grant, Demerara Bank, GT&T, Bank of Guyana, Courts Guyana Ltd., Republic Bank, Geology and Mines Commission, GWI, Ministry of Health, Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA), Ministry of Housing, NAMILCO, Correira Mining Company, Bureau of Standard, Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Home Affairs.
The host team Banks DIH is also expected to field a formidable line up for the event. Trophies and other incentive prizes will be up for grabs. A meeting of representatives of the competing teams was arranged for yesterday afternoon to discuss the rules of the competition.
