Man charged for attempting to commit murder

Colin Sancho, 49, of 69 Golden Grove East Coast Demerara was not required to plead to the indictable offence of attempting to commit murder when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson, yesterday.
It was alleged that Sancho, on February 20, last, unlawfully and maliciously wounded Aubrey Mc Kennon with the intent to murder.
Police Prosecutor Stephen Telford objected to bail and told the court that Sancho stabbed Mc Kennon several times to the abdomen.
Mc Kennon is at present a patient of the Georgetown Public Hospital in the Intensive Care Unit.
A relative of Mc Kennon, who was present in court, said that Sancho would smoke cocaine and is very troublesome. The injured man said that he was involved in an incident with Sancho some six years ago and that was the only known problem between the two men.
Sancho was remanded and is expected to make another court appearance on March 30.
Mc Kennon was attacked Saturday last as he was attempting to exit his vehicle. According to eyewitnesses the stabbing was unprovoked.
Also appearing before the same magistrate was Beverley Ralph, 43, of 7 Miles Potaro River. Ralph is accused of attempting to kill her reputed husband, Lindon Mc Calmon, on February 20, last, at Mango Landing, Konawaruk.
She was not required to plead to the indictable offence and was unrepresented by lawyer.
The mother of six was remanded and is expected to make another court appearance on April 21. The matter was transferred to the Mahdia Magistrate’s Court.
