Guyana Power and Light (GPL) made its debut for Mashramani when it unveiled its shocking blue band with lovely models in costumes designed by Facts and Roses.
This would be the first time that GPL would be participating in the Mashramani float parade which coincides with Guyana’s 40th Republic anniversary.
According to GPL Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Ash Deonarine, the stable fuel prices have made GPL steadfast, and on a road to recovery.
Because there are extra resources, GPL has been able to take part in the Mashramani celebrations for the first time.
According to Minister, Dr Frank Anthony, this Mashramani will have the largest ever float parade with some bands accommodating 1,000 persons. All told there will be 33 bands all set to participate.
Meanwhile, the Carib Soca Monarch competition would be held tonight at the National Park and the Calypso competition on Sunday at Thirst Park.
