Sets new 200m indoor PB
National 400m record holder Aliann Pompey continued her ascendancy in the world with a blistering 52.40 seconds on Friday at the Boston University Valentine’s Invitational that was hosted at the school’s Track and Tennis Centre.
Competing for Shore Athletics Club, Pompey left her nearest rival a little under a second behind; New Horizon Track Club, Melocia Clarke ran 53.70 for second while Dominique Holmes finished third in 54.49 seconds at the facility.
Pompey told Kaieteur Sport briefly yesterday that her time in the 400m launches her back in the top ten in the world this season. She also competed in the 200m in Boston finishing second in a tight finish for a new Personal Best (PB).
The Guyanese international campaigner ran 23.69 seconds behind Whitney Fountain who won in 23.60 seconds. Holmes, competing for Brick House Athletics Club, was third with 24.02 seconds. Pompey is preparing for a hectic 2010 Season.
