Police are about to charge a popular Linden businessman for carnal knowledge of a minor, after raiding his home on Wednesday and finding two schoolgirls there.
Sources gave the age of the girls as 14 and 13 and Kaieteur News understands that the younger girl has alleged that she has been involved in a sexual relationship with the 49-year-old businessman who has plied her with money and gifts. However, the man had reportedly denied the allegations.
According to reports, the incident came to light on Tuesday when an official from a private school observed the two minors entering the businessman’s home.
The official immediately contacted the police who visited the suspect’s home and found the girls and the businessman there. One of the girls reportedly fainted after a sexual encounter, prompting fear in the other.
However, only the girls were taken into custody and a medical examination revealed that the 13-year-old was sexually active.
Police then arrested the businessman on Wednesday.
Police sources said that after being questioned, the 13-year-old alleged that she started a sexual relationship with the businessman about a month ago.
The allegations were made in the businessman’s presence and Kaieteur News understands that the schoolgirl also produced a gold chain and gold ring that he had allegedly given her.
Police said that the teen underwent a medical examination which confirmed that she is sexually active.
Investigators are said to have already sent a report to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and the businessman is likely to appear in court shortly.
