With just over one month to go before Guyana welcomes the rest of the Caribbean to the 4th Annual Caribbean Powerlifting and Bench Press Championships set for the Princess Hotel, Providence, East Bank Demerara, Hand In Hand Mutual Fire Life & Insurance Companies is the first Corporate entity to join hands with the Guyana Amateur Powerlifting Federation (GAPF) to ensure a successful championship.
Yesterday, at their Lot 1-4 Avenue of the Republic, Georgetown, Head Office, Patrick Falconer, the Company’s Top Salesman for 2009 handed over a cheque to President of the GAPF Peter Green for the Caribbean championships to be held from March 18-20, the first time Guyana will be hosting this mega event.
In handing over the cheque, Falconer emphatically stated that Hand In Hand has always been a champion for the development of sports and was elated to be a part of history with the GAPF.
“We would like to congratulate the President and Executive of the GAPF for being able to bring such a prestigious event to these shores.
We are 100% behind you in making this a huge success and we wish you, our athletes as well as the teams coming all the best at the 4th coming championships.”
Hand in Hand, Falconer said has a great and rich history of supporting and developing sports in Guyana and the Region noting that they have been involved in cricket, motor racing judo, karate, cycling, rugby and table tennis among others.
“We have been following the development of our powerlifters and they have been doing us proud since returning to the regional and international levels. We will be behind you guys 100% at these championships to ensure that we continue to dominate.”
President Green said he was very excited and grateful for Hand In Hand’s support noting that the support of Corporate Guyana is vital to their success.
“The GAPF would like to sincerely thank Hand In Hand for their generous support and we wish you continued success in the future. As President of the GAPF, I would like to assure you that our athletes will not only dominate with individual glory, but we will be taking the team championships also.”
GAPF Public Relations Officer Mark Seymour, who will be competing at the Caribbean Championships also weighed in by complimenting Hand In Hand for backing his organisation.
A number of other entities have been approached to partner with the GAPF, their support will be known in the coming weeks.
