Dear Editor,
If I were thinned-skin I would probably have stopped airing my views in these columns but words can do me no harm whatsoever.
The blogs in Guyana have had and continue to have a field day poking ridicule and insults at public figures who stand out in our society — government or otherwise — and even letter writers like me. I understand that these blogs too have their jobs to do. But when a public personality who is seemingly a “respected” (or so many are led to believe) official of the Guyana Government in the Berbice region, who also holds numerous government positions including one for the State media here, make ridicule and mockery of members of the public (not once but twice on separate occasions) on live State Media Berbice Television, in the presence of a minister, a regional official and the entire Berbice community at large, then we have reached a new low in human behaviour and politics. Indeed the PPP has gone further unimaginably further down the abysmal gutters.
If some of us believe that we are doing something positive for the government or ruling party when we insult others on the airwaves in front of other respected public officials then we lack intelligence. Don’t we know we only show how stupid and brainless we are when we do these things?
