This and every Saturday at C&S Sheriff Street
Soca and Mash music lovers in Guyana are advised to head down to the C&S nightspot on Sheriff Street to be part of Jumo’s Mash Soca Jamboree.
Co-ordinated by singing sensation Jumo ‘Rubber waist’ Primo X2 the every Saturday event that starts next Saturday will feature various local artistes and Deejays entertaining patrons to “get them in the mash mood”.
It will also feature costume showcases from the various mash camps so that persons can decide which they want to wear and which mash band they will tramp in on February 23. “It’s all inclusive and will also feature chutney singers and Belly dancers as well as soca and Calypso artistes as part of the many Mash related entertainment offerings from the various competitions.
Asked to explain the idea, Primo said that he thought of it after years of travelling and performing with the Byron Lee and the Dragonnaires. “In those countries during their carnival season they have lots of additional events to promote the festival’s competitions, artistes and their music as well as the arts in general so this is the start of Guyana’s Jamboree.”
He expressed the hope that domestic and international tourists who like to party, will get back to partying in a secured environment on Sheriff Street where live entertainment never sleeps.
His Public Relations Officer, Mondale Smith, said, “Mash Jamboree is aimed at helping to generate the Mash Spirit the way Carnival is built upon in Trinidad through the many entertainment offerings. Mash Jamboree will also provide an avenue for the artistes to showcase and make popular their competition offerings.”
Jumo’s Mash Jamboree is sponsored by Gizmos and Gadgets and if all goes well Banks DIH will be on board shortly.
As a special offering to patrons Jumo said, “Persons can possibly win costumes for various bands and they will also win MP3s featuring X2 Music and videos.
Primo will be among the main acts each Saturday night offering his Soca vibes and aerobics live.
