– Nets trap Panthers in Overtime
Macabees opened the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) League with a huge Division I win against newcomer East/West Fire when the season-opening tourney continued at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall Tuesday.
Macabees completely drenched an East/West Fire in a morale boosting 77-42 points’ win with Darren Thomas scoring a game high 18 points. The win was a welcome start for the bottom-of-the-table ranked Macabees in Georgetown.
Nitzkiel Yisreal added 14 points, Devon Cameron 13 points and Hodayah Stewart 11 for complete offensive contribution from the main players. Devon Doris had 14 for East and West Fire while Warren Oudkerk scored 10 points. As is rapidly becoming a trend in the League following Sunday night’s opening Division III thriller with Eagles coming away with a two-point victory, enthusiasts were treated to yet another pulsating encounter in that category.
Nets trapped Colours Panthers 58-56 in overtime disband the highly ranked third division club in Georgetown. The entertaining encounter was locked at 47 points apiece after each team failed to go up when regulation time expired.
Colin Tracey was at the forefront of the win for Nets with 12 points with Brian Wilson on nine points. Panthers’ Oslyn Hooper also had 12 points for his team while Ternell Cummings finished with eight points.
The League is expected to continue tonight following the rescheduling of games after the Pepsi Sonics pulled out abruptly Sunday night.
