The 2010 Cricket Development Programme (CDP) of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club (RHTY&SC) was launched on Thursday last with the club donating a number of Hygiene kits, Educational packages and Umpiring shirts to the Essequibo Cricket Umpires Association (ECUA).
Valued at about $70,000, the materials were made possible through the RHTY&SC’s Pepsi Under-19 team as its first Personal Development Project for the year.
National United Nations Volunteer (NUNV) and RHTY&SC Public Relations Officer who is also Assistant Manager of the Pepsi team Moonish Singh in handing over the donation to President of the ECUA Zabeer Zakier noted that the Club is committed towards the development of cricket throughout Guyana while making a call for umpires to always strive for excellence.
Singh disclosed that the Pepsi Under-19 team was mandated by the Club to assist following a request for assistance to the Club’s Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster and did not hesitate to lend a hand.
Zakier in return said that the Essequibo Cricket Umpires Association is now in the restructuring process and the items would be used for classes the association will be running off while the polo shirts would be used to outfit umpires during matches.
Zakier expressed gratitude to the RHTY&SC and the Pepsi team for the quick response to his request in less than a week.
The Club would be making a similar donation to the Berbice Cricket Umpires Association later this month.
