At least eight suspects were in custody yesterday as detectives stepped up investigations into Friday’s deadly attack at Safraz Sports bar.
Police expect further developments today, when the suspects are placed on an identification parade.
Investigators are reportedly also considering seeking overseas help to enhance footage of the gunmen caught on a close circuit camera on the premises.
Officials expressed optimism that the perpetrators, who were all unmasked, will be identified and charged.
Three other suspects were taken into custody on Sunday and were interrogated at CID Headquarters, Eve Leary, before being released.
The popular nightspot has not opened for business since the tragedy and the owner, who said he was still “in shock,” told Kaieteur News that he is unsure when he will resume.
The owner added that he plans to install better security cameras when the night spot opens its doors.
“If we reopen, we will put in better security cameras and armed guards so that people’s lives will not be in danger.”
The proprietor said that he is also assisting with the funeral expenses for his slain employee.
Kulmattie Singh, called Kathy, of North East Cummings Lodge, died after she was shot in the head when the three gunmen invaded the night spot.
Jason Montgomery, an Australian national, was shot in the chest just below his heart, while 39-year-old businessman, Ronald Dhanraj, called ‘Lar’, was shot under the right arm.
The gunmen also relieved the patrons and the bartender of cash and other valuables before escaping in a waiting AT 192 Toyota Carina.
