One of the three persons charged with the Old Year’s Day murder of Wendell Tappin, of Albouystown, continues to avoid capture by the police.
Last week, Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson remanded two brothers, Randolph Allicock, 35, and Leonard Allicock, 47, both of James Street, Albouystown, when they appeared to answer the charge of murder.
The third accused, Steve Allicock, is yet to be arrested by police and his whereabouts are still unknown.
According to reports reaching this newspaper, Steve Allicock has been seen in Albouystown on many occasions after the murder.
Residents are of the opinion that the police are reluctant to arrest him.
One resident told Kaieteur News that the suspect stays in a certain house in Albouystown, and if the police are serious about capturing him they could make an arrest.
It was further said that one of the eyewitnesses to the murder is constantly being threatened and has expressed fear for his life.
Other residents are also fearful because the feud between the Allicock and Tappin families could erupt into extreme violence, as there is tension in the area since the murder of Wendell Tappin.
