Police officer David Ramnarine heads the 2010 list of promotions of the Guyana Police Force.
Ramnarine, a former senior superintendent is the only officer promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police. He is at present the Commander of the Police Interior Division, having taken over from Luis Crawford at the beginning of the year.
He recently served as Deputy Commander of A Division under Assistant Commissioner Leroy Brummell.
Ramnarine is one of the youngest police officers to be appointed an Assistant Commissioner within recent times.
Other notable promotions are new Senior Superintendent Derrick Josiah, the Second in Command of A Division, and Superintendent Errol Watts who is at present serving on the East Coast of Demerara.
In total 287 ranks from the Regular Police Force were promoted, while there were 16 promotions within the Special Constabulary and seven in the Guystac Constabulary.
Forty four Rural Constables were also promoted.
