Edwards, Moses, Morgan headlines list; teenage sensation Vijay Rahim included
In a bid to make their accomplishment the best ever at the 4th IPF/NAPF Caribbean Power Lifting Championships set for next year, the Guyana Amateur Power Lifting Federation (GAPLF) has shortlisted a 17-man squad to prepare.
Since their return to the Regional and International arena, the Guyanese power men have been holding their own, even re-writing the record books.
Headlining the selectees are the main flag bearers, Randolph Morgan, Mervin ‘Spongy’ Moses and ‘Big’ John Edwards.
Teenage sensation Vijay Rahim of Berbice who has taken the stage by storm ever since entering the sport just over one year ago has also been included as well as another junior standout Anis Ade Thomas, who became the first junior lifter to dead lift over 600 pounds at the junior championships.
The lone Essequibian shortlisted is the multi-talented Mark Seymour who has also been improving by leaps and bounds since coming into the sport just over a year ago.
The 4th IPF/NAPF Caribbean Power Lifting Championships is set for Georgetown, Guyana March 18 – 20, 2010.
The Lifters shortlisted are:
Berbice: Vijai Rahim, Wazeem Immamdeen, Tariq Immamdeen, Anis Ade Thomas, Farouk Abdul, Kelvin Lewis and Mohamed Rossan.
Demerara: John Edwards, Mervyn Moses, Randolph Morgan, Winston Stoby, Karel Mars, Ryan Williams, Paul Adams, Rawleston Watson and Errol Henry.
Essequibo: Mark Seymour.
According to the GAPF, the final team to represent Guyana will be announced following the GAPF’s Annual Awards ceremony set for Sunday January 17, 2010 at the Tropical View Hotel, Campbellville.
