A number of outstanding performances were recorded when the Harpy Eagle Martial Arts Academy held its East Coast National Championships on December 20, at the Beterverwagting Community Centre.
Among those who performed outstandingly were Rebecca DeFreitas, Raul Thomas, Lazaro Scott, Shaveash Motielall, Romeo DeFreitas, Khadija St. Clair, Vanita MacDonald and Deon Bobb, who all won their respective categories in the Kata segment.
In the Weapons and Kumite categories, Themera Austin, Raul Thomas, Romeo DeFreitas, Kemo Scott, Deon Bobb, Joshua Ally, Kendal Fraser, Maria Thomas, Teri Jones, Christopher Thompson, Theo Simon and Troy Bobb were the respective winners in the different divisions.

In the Kumite category

Meanwhile, the club will host a Fun-Day on January 17 and that will be followed by a tournament on January 31 after which a team will be selected to represent Guyana at the Caribbean Championships slated for February 20 in St. Lucia.
According to Chief Instructor Troy Bobb, both events will be used as fund raisers to garner funds for the cost of travelling to St. Lucia.
