A police raid late yesterday afternoon has left residents of 69 Robb Street,Bourda, Georgetown, irate after three men from the house were arrested.
According to the occupants of the home, the police swooped down on the location some time after 14:00 hours and indicated that they were in search of narcotics.
The residents claimed that despite the unprofessional conduct of the party of policemen, they allowed the lawmen to execute their duties. The residents said that the search came up empty handed, but the police arrested three men who were in the house at the time, claiming that they needed to carry out further investigations.
The three were identified as Clayton St Kitts, 38; Shawn Holder, 38 and Trevor Chance, 24.
The men’s family are livid that they were arrested although nothing illegal was unearthed on the premises. What is even more upsetting for the mostly female relatives is that two of the men, Clayton St Kitts and Shawn Holder were awaken from their sleep and taken away, while Trevor Chance was arrested even as he was executing repair works to a gas stove in the yard.
The residents questioned the legality of the search since a search warrant was not produced for the exercise. They said their inquiry for the document was met with a fleet of expletives as the determined ranks forced their way into the house.
The wife of one of the men arrested was told that she would have been arrested for disorderly behaviour, if she did not cease her crying.
The residents branded the move by the ranks as harassment. They said that the police are in the habit of raiding the premises and taking away the men.
Up to press time it was not clear if the men were located.
