A youth who has been accused of robbing a confectionery vendor was yesterday remanded after making a court appearance.
Roger Grant, 18, of Stevedore Housing Scheme, was yesterday refused bail by Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton. He was read the indictable charge of robbery under arms.
It is alleged that on November 29, Grant, armed with a gun, robbed Sherwin Bias of a belt, a pair of earrings, a gold chain, two cell phones and some corn curls, all at a total value of $252,000. Grant, who was represented by attorney at law Stephen Fraser, was not required to plead to the charge. Fraser stated that Bias had indicated to him that he did not want to give further evidence against his client, since he is leaving the jurisdiction.
However Police Prosecutor Shellon Daniels objected to bail for the accused and said that Bias only told the prosecution that he is going to the interior to work.
The magistrate then remanded the accused who is scheduled to return to court on April 7
