Dear Editor,
I attended the launching of the dossier of human rights abuses on Tuesday 17 November and left with a copy.
The response from the Office of the President is as predictable as their defence for all other matters including Ramsammy, Lindo Creek, Kwame Mc Coy and now the collective guilt of the Administration as related to the crimes in the dossier; their response is lame, porous and consistent with the decay that constitutes their political world view.
This document embodies an era in the history of this country that is not yet over, if Steve Merai can be appointed to an administrative, leading position in the GPF.
Merai’s appointment extends the commitment of the State to the vices that have resulted in the social decadence that pervades this nation to date.
In respect to the letter in Kaieteur News on the 21st. November, 09 by a self appointed ‘Court Jester’ of the ‘Klingsor of our day.
Ronald Harsawack proceeds to stammer a petulant argument in defence of the indefensible decay of the State.
He rambles on about ‘criminals ‘ defended in the dossier; either he lacks the moral thinking to comprehend that the casual murder of suspects by the tactical arm of the state is an aberration, to be considered a defect to be immediately addressed in any function State.
It’s erroneous to suggest that any political agenda lies in the compilation and presentation of the dossier; it’s the moral duty of citizens political or otherwise to address fervently the lowest levels that this society has retrogressed into, since our political independence.
Now for the benefit of the reading public, I will extract two of many of the names listed by Harsawack to demonstrate that letters like his are grounded in forming falsifications to mislead, to protect culpable groups and divert serious public attention from the serious problems at hand.
The following case studies are extracted for the public to draw their own conclusions.
Victor Bourne Jr. Was executed in Ras Ville. 30, June 1998. The following day I spoke to his wife in the company of another media operative. She informed us that Leon Fraser was a visitor to the home, what were their connections is anyone’s guess.
The day in question, Fraser and another policeman came to the home asking for Bourne, Bourne’s wife let them in being familiar with them. Bourne was in the bedroom on his bed with his young child and another infant. She heard an argument, but could not determine about what, she was outside and pregnant at the time.
Shots were fired the infants in the room began to scream, other policemen in the vehicle came into the home, they dragged the murdered Bourne feet first for about 20 yards into the street and threw him into the Black clothes vehicle.
Victor Bourne Jr. was not wanted by the police as no bulletins had so indicated he was murdered while being defenceless, in the presence of infants.
Jermaine Wilkinson, was never involved in any criminal activities, his crime was living in Albouystown, an area where the police seem to have an open mandate to do as they please, he ran from an intoxicated policeman, hid in a cottage under a bed, the cop entered the cottage removed the bed and shot Jermaine.
Citizens were screaming as the corporal and another policeman stumbled with the dead youth’s body. At one point, the corporal even gave his shot gun to the young man’s younger sibling to hold in the confusion of handling the body and the gathered crowd; he obviously did not feel threatened. Protests resulted in the corporal being charged, but his case is yet to come up; on more than one occasion the corporal’s relatives were seen leaving Freedom house; It’s suspected that he was whisked out of the country with State support.
Whether a citizen is a functional criminal, they do not constitute an untouchable specie without rights, ours is/was a Nation of Laws and we must fight to retain those values. I can cite numerous other cases like these two. Now made available to involved researchers, it cannot be disputed that the Black Clothes were the praetorian guards and assassins of the Criminal Business class that is aligned to the PPP/C.
Roger Khan was the manifestation of the true nature of that specific business class. The dossier will need upgrading as relatives continue to come forward providing new information. The dossier is a testament that the principles and principalities of wickedness in high places is not just a Biblical connotation, but in Guyana today is evident through a profound manifestation of the most debased levels that a Socio/political system could sink into.
