The long standing policy of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club to invest in youths is continuing to pay dividends as several Under-15 and 19 players led the Rose Hall Town Bakewell Second Division Team to its third consecutive win in the 2009 New Building Society Second Division Tournament.
Eon Hooper, Shawn Perreira, Dominic Rickey and Clinton Pestano, all junior cricketers, played major roles as Rose Hall Town Bakewell defeated Belvedere United by 9 wickets at the Area H ground on Sunday last.
Batting first after winning the toss Belvedere United were bundled out for 101 in 34 overs with only Peter Mangal offering resistance with a solid 30*.
Bowling for RHT Bakewell, 14 year-old leg spinner Shawn Perreira had figures of 4-24 while 18 year-old Eon Hooper bowling off spin took 4-17.
In reply RHT Bakewell raced to victory in 13.2 overs, reaching 105-1 with 15 year-old Dominic Rickey unbeaten on 45 and Eon Hooper 20*. 16 year-old former Guyana Under-15 player Clinton Pestano scored a quick fire 37 with five boundaries and added 80 for the first wicket with Rickey to set up an easy win for their team.
This was the third half century opening partnership for the pair in as many matches in the tournament so far.
