Septic tank murder…
A close male associate of the woman who is considered to be the prime suspect in last Sunday’s septic tank murder has been arrested.
Reports are that the man was arrested on Monday evening at Skeldon, and up to press time yesterday he was still in police custody.
However the main suspect is still at large.
The body of 41-year-old Ram Kanniah was found on Sunday last in a septic tank at Grant 1806, Crabwood Creek, Corentyne, Berbice.
According to reports, persons going into the Corentyne backlands were hit by a strong stench, which they suspected was coming from a dead animal.
The police were contacted and the partly decomposed body was pulled from a septic tank.
A source in Berbice told this newspaper that the property that housed the septic tank was unoccupied at the time and is owned by a Suriname-based Guyanese woman.
Meanwhile a post mortem which was performed on the man’s remains revealed that he died as a result of a punctured lung which was due to a stab wound.
