Day two of the DeSinco Trading Under-19 football competition in the city on Saturday last saw five of the six teams taking full points in their encounters with one draw recorded on the day.
At the Tucville ground, host team Fruta Conquerors kept their unbeaten record intact with another commanding win, this time over Alpha by a 3-1 margin. Junior Junior in the 35th minute, Rico Favourite in the 32nd and Manasseh Primo in the 67th minute responded for Conquerors after Alpha had taken the lead in the 21st minute through Mikhail Stewart.
At the same venue, Santos got past Riddim Squad by a similar score line, Jevon Gibson netting a brace (20 & 26), Leron Charles tucking in the other in the 65th minute. Riddim Squad’s lone strike came off the boot of Carson Vickery in the 59th minute.
In the final game of the day at this venue, Uprising and Georgetown Football Club (GFC) battled to an exciting 3-3 draw.
GFC took the lead after 7 minutes through a Rory Lewis goal but Uprising equalized in the 16th minute compliments of a Patrick Murray strike. Uprising quickly established a two goal cushion when Devon Charles found the back of the nets twice within a 4 minute span. He was on target in the 20th and 24th minute.
GFC were patient and absorbed the many attacks made by Uprising before turning on some pressure of their own which yielded the requisite goals to ensure an equal share of the points.
Lewis was on target again in the 49th minute to complete a well earned brace. Carl Tudor tucked in the equalizer in the 67th minute.
Over at the Camptown ground in Campbellville, the home team took full points from BK International Western Tigers who have withdrawn from the tournament.
Northern Rangers took care of Flamingo 3-0 with efforts by Quason Fanfair (40), Debhane Wills (65) and Sean Peters in the 75th minute.
Pele, playing the feature game of the day blasted Black Pearl 4-1.
Kevin Payne handed Pele the lead in the 3rd minute but Black Pearl responded in like manner 5 minutes later through Corwin Lynch. Unanswered goals from Kerwin Benjamin (19), Germain Sutton (30) and Godfrey Powers (70) guided Pele to their win.
