Dear Editor,
I refer to the lament that is called Essequibo’s cricket and wish to enquire of the Executives what are their plans for cricket in the county.
Cricket in Essequibo has been in terminal decline for years and the executive elected in 2009 cannot cope with the challenge.
Also the Guyana Cricket Board is clueless about a programme to help Essequibo. Is the Ministry of Sport aware of what is happening? I hope so as the PRO of the Essequibo Board is in the same building as the Honourable Minister and the Director of Sport.
Also I understand an inter county game between Demerara and a rest team had to be aborted at the Police Sports Club ground because of another engagement. Are these people serious? Is the cricket board comatose? What kind of incompetence is Guyana’s cricket? Is there no planning?
Also is there a cricket development committee at the Board and if so who are the members and when last they met. They normally meet monthly. Has this happened for the year or the executives are just waiting to preen their feathers at the World Cup next year.
