A Remembrance Wall will be constructed to honour soldiers who served. This wall will surround the Veterans Cenotaph at Camp Ayanganna.
Construction should commence next year.
According to Retired Colonel, Carl Morgan, the Remembrance Wall would display the insignia and badges of various squadrons, platoons and battalions while the names of approximately thirty units that served our country would be printed on the wall.
Some of the units are British West India Regiment, South Caribbean Forces, British Guiana Militia, British Guiana Volunteer Corps, Guyana Defence Force(GDF), Guyana People’s Militia, First Infantry Brigade, Jaguar Battalion, Perai Battalion, Recce Squadron and the British Guard Battalion.
Some of the squadrons that are still active to date are Band Corps, Ordinance Corps, Maritime Corps (Coast Guard) and Recce Squadron (Special Forces).
However, no names of persons will be on the wall.
