Dear Editor,
An alleged torture of a 14-year-old boy by some policemen was broadcast by the news media, and rightfully the police acted promptly and arrested some suspected rouge elements involved in that act..
Through the very media, Prakash Persaud has exposed a very troubling scandal in various levels of our justice system; and in it, he has allegedly implicated some senior lawyers and even those with political ambitions.
However, it appears that fraternal forces within the judicial system are cleaving together and shunting Persaud’s appeal for justice, and they are relegating his voice to the wilderness.
Certainly, the administrational heads of our judicial arm are all aware of the contradictions, but here in Guyana, it seems that the preponderance of guild-ship submerges the will to act impartially. Such direction, undeniably leads to anarchy.
Whilst I commend President Jagdeo for the fantastic results in his pursuit to help clean up the whole world of unwanted emissions, I pray that His Excellency who has this country to run, would also now justifiably get involved in the act of righteousness to cross the border of insulation, and likewise clean out the identifiable rogues from our judicial system.
A country without proper jurisprudence is a failed state!
