A number of Cooperate entities have come on board and has given their full support to held make the Rising Sun Turf Club and the Lions clubs of Durban Park and the Central Demerara Lions Club grand one day Fund raising horse race meet a truly memorable occasion.
The event is scheduled to be staged at the Rising s Sun Turf Club Arima Park on the West Coast of Berbice on Sunday with eight races carded for the day.
Competitors will be vying for over $2.5 million dollars, which will be available in cash and trophies. Entries closed on Sunday and over 50 of the countries top racehorses have entered so far.
Proceeds from the activity will go towards helping the Lions Club’s various activities for the rest of the year. Among the companies that have signaled their intention to help with the fund raising venture are Beverage giants Banks DIH, telecommunication power house GT&T, Sterling Products, Goodwood Racing Service, Hand In Hand and Toucan Industries.
The Feature C class gallop is the main attraction on the days programme with the first prize being $300,000 and will see the horses galloping over a distance of 1400m.
The 3yr old match up will still see the best 3yr olds in the country clashing in what is expected to be a race too close to call. The winning prize is worth $250,000 for the 1600m contest.
The F Class race usually has a full compliment of starters and it is expected this will be the case in this race for $160,000 purse on offer in the 1300m race.
Beverage giants Banks DIH is the sponsor of the Two Year old event for horses born and Bred in Guyana and the West Indies. They have doled out over $500,000 in sponsorship money, with the winner pocketing $200,000. This race will be run over a distance of 1300m.
GT&T has covered expenses for the G class event where a $100,000 first prize will be available for the winner in the 1400m sprint.
Hand In Hand Insurance and Toucan Industries have teamed up and are giving sponsorship of the H class event which has a winning tag of $90,000 covering 1300m.
The J and K and lower will be catered for by Sterling Products Limited with a winners money of $80,000 and the distance is also 1300m.
Goodwood Racing Service is plowing money back into horseracing with sponsorship for the L class race. Victory in this event will see the champion taking home $75,000 in the 1100m sprint.
Businessman Ramesh Sunich of the Trophy Stall in Bourda Market as usual is also on board with sponsorship for the individual prizes those will include the champion jockey and champion trainer trophies among others.
