A man who was wanted by the police for a murder yesterday turned himself in to the police in the company of his father.
Reports are that the man, who has been identified as ‘Yankee’, of West Ruimveldt, walked into the Ruimveldt Police Outpost early yesterday morning with his father.
This newspaper was told that on October 5, last, ‘Yankee’ was involved in a fight with Mervin Smith at Rasville.
It is alleged that the suspect dealt Smith a blow to his left temple causing the man to collapse to the ground in an unconscious state.
Smith was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was treated and admitted. He succumbed a few days after.
Charges are likely to be laid shortly.
