A minibus driver is in a city hospital nursing a gash to his throat which he reportedly suffered at the hands of a taxi driver at the Demerara Harbour Bridge yesterday afternoon.
According to a female eyewitness, the unidentified driver was in his minibus in a queue to get to the toll area. The woman said she watched as a motor car drove up and made a sudden turn into the path of the minibus.
“When he turn the bus stop, and the car driver jump out, walk up to the minibus driver’s side and pull out something and attack the bus driver.”
The man then reportedly hurried back to his car, turned it around and drove away leaving the minibus driver clutching his throat and gasping for air.
“When I go to the bus the blood was gushing out and I grab a man jersey and tie it round he neck and send he off to the Diamond hospital,” one woman said.
When this publication arrived at the Diamond Hospital, officials there said the man had been transferred to the Georgetown Hospital. While that hospital did receive a report of the incident, the man never arrived at the institution.
