Outstanding Guyanese football referee Dianne Ferreira-James, who is now residing in the Bahamas, continues to forge her international refereeing career in her new location.
In recent communication with Ferreira-James, she informed that she is currently preparing for more international engagements following a recent visit home.
She was back home between June – Aug and disclosed that she had some good games here. The leading female football official expressed joy at working with her Guyanese colleagues: Dion Inniss, Nykasie Liverpool, Roy McArthur and Venton Mars among others.
She said, “I am so happy that more Guyanese referees are given the opportunity of overseas tournaments. Happy to see more females involved and the possibility of a new female trio of referees (Nicola/ Renada/ Odessa) to the 2010 FIFA List.
“I thank Mr. Griffith who continues to give unselfishly of his time for the development of referees and Football in Guyana. With my fellow referee Roy Mc Arthur soon to follow in his footsteps the future of referees is bright.”
She disclosed that, “I was appointed to the CFU U-20 Women’s Qualifier from October 16 23 in Havana Cuba. I received another appointment in CFU U-17 in Haiti but due to work commitment I could not accept.”“I am now preparing for yet another CFU U-20 Qualifier from November 16 – 23 which I have already accepted. My immediate focus is FIFA U-20 Women’s World Championship Germany 2010 and FIFA Algarve Cup 2010 Portugal. All this is a build up to FIFA Women’s World Cup Germany 2011.”
Ferreira-James expressed joy at being successful in her Fitness Test. She disclosed that she changed her training schedule to make this a much easier and successful Test in the future.
She wished for success for her fellow referees back home and hoped they continue to work hard.
