“I want UG to regain its national and regional credibility… and so, I would like to believe that my UWI visit would eventually make some difference to UG, no matter how incremental it may be.”
Pro-Chancellor of the University of Guyana, Dr Prem Misir will today be travelling to the University of the West Indies (UWI), St. Augustine Campus to observe established management systems of higher education at work and the allied policy requirements for the management process.
According to Dr. Misir, “This is a great opportunity that could benefit the University of Guyana, currently in the throes of some structural reforms.”
According to Dr. Misir, the Pro-Vice Chancellor and Campus Principal, UWI, St. Augustine Campus, will facilitate him in his capacity as UG’s Pro-Chancellor to have a “hands-on” look at the UWI management systems and the operational aspects of the pillars of its Strategic Plan.
“Within this context, I will have meetings and interactions with the Campus Registrar, Campus Bursar, Senior Assistant Registrar (Human Resources), Director of Marketing, Director of the Business Development Office, and the Dean, Faculty of Science and Agriculture.”
According to Dr. Misir, while on Campus, the Governance Unit in collaboration with the Department of Behavioural Sciences, UWI, will be holding a Panel Discussion on race relations; the panel members including him will be: Professors Rhoda Reddock, Bridget Brereton and John La Guerre.
“Around the same time, I also will facilitate a Seminar on Graduate Research Methods to assist graduate students to develop a proposal for a thesis/dissertation in the Department of Behavioural Sciences, UWI, St. Augustine.”
Dr. Misir posited that he wants UG to regain its national and regional credibility; and so, “I would like to believe that my UWI visit would eventually make some difference to UG, no matter how incremental it may be.”
