Digicel hands over sponsorship
The Norman Singh Memorial Turf Club has recently raised the bar in the horseracing department with several meets that have left lovers of the sport yearning for more. The organizers are once again planning another horseracing extravaganza, this time in collaboration with the Custom Racing Stable. Together, these two groups have organized a grand one day horserace meet scheduled for tomorrow at Number 6 Village, West Coast, Berbice.
Eight exciting races are carded for the day including two feature events that include the C Class and Lower and the 3 years old, Digicel Classic event, over varying distances. Once again, participating jockeys will compete for large purses and trophies that exceed a grand total of 3.5 million dollars.
A prognosis of the track has yielded satisfactory conditions and over 60 horses are currently involved in intense gallop, all with an aim of carting off the honours.
Turfites are further assured that they would get their money’s worth with such animals as Sweet Carmel, Irish Gel, Massage, Great Memories, Jumbo Joy and Laura in flight, in the starting lineup for the main event.
The three year olds are also expected to provide excitement and several top horses are already signed up for the race.
Among some of the big guns are, Crescendo, Zippa De Doo Dah, Top of the Line, Pixie Fire, Tidal Wave and Over the Mat, among others. Other races include the F Class, the 2 years old, the I Class Unclassified and the Unclassified Division 3.
Other horses on show in the meet will be Pegasus Rising, Laura Lee in Flight, The Gap, Sir Balajee, Fresh Prospect, Matterazi and Fire Power who will contest the F Class, while the 2 year old gallop features Madin, Mona Lisa, Miss Felicia, Infinity, Lucky Spike, GT Rush, Rag to Riches and Miss Bounty.
The G class includes Bad News, Alphabet, Mystic, Brown Boy and El Gato.
The programme is part sponsored by Digicel and that company would be exhibiting some of their top of the line phones.
Banks DIH, another sponsor, would also have a well stocked bar and music would be provided by a popular sound system.
Please share this to every Guyanese including your house cats.
