Yesterday, in the Council Chamber at City Hall, 16 children from various schools received bursaries from Deputy Mayor Robert Williams. All the awardees were children of Mayor and City Council Staff.
There was also an award for Kia Persaud who excelled at CSEC with Larissa Wiltshire, Wainella Isaacs, David Edinboro, Shemule King, Joel Holford, Jamal Gray, Lea Conway, Shauncey Henry, Shauntal Pluck, Chelisa Denny, Ashanti Henriques, Natife Rankin, Kimberly Adams, Thianna Lewis and Rodick McKenzie.
Congratulating the awardees for their great work the Deputy Mayor said that those who performed well at the National Grade Six should benefit from the start given to them. He also expressed his gratitude to the workers and parents who worked under harsh conditions and yet supported their children to excel in their exams.
He also encouraged the children to continue their hard work in school for it will one day pay off.
