Bryden and Fernandes, through its Breeze products, gave away more than half a million dollars in groceries and coupons at its Bounty Water Street store yesterday.
Through its ‘Breeze Sun Powder’ Promotion the company rewarded loyal customers for doing business with the establishment.
The participants who won shopping sprees and shopping voucher were chosen after they had submitted either two normal breeze packets with their contact details or one empty packet of its new power packet soap powder. From the hundreds of entries submitted, 12 persons were selected. Six of those, Joann Chung, Donna Joseph, Patricia Carrington, Denise Darrell, Nadine Fletcher and Bibi Khan, won for themselves a shopping voucher each worth $16,000 that can be redeemed at any Bounty store throughout the country.
For the remaining six winners they got a chance of a shopping spree. The length of the shopping spree was determined by the customer punching the prize board to determine the duration of their individual shopping spree.
The times ranged from 15 to 60 seconds that the winners could have shopped till they drop for. For Simone St.Louis who won the sixty seconds shopping spree, the maximum time, it was for years that she has been using Breeze and always wanted to win a shopping spree.
“I thank God for this opportunity; I plan to make the best of it”.
Even before St. Louis went on her shopping spree, winning the sixty seconds which represented the maximum time anyone could have shopped for, her screams and leaps were uncontrollable. Eventually she won herself $127,461 in groceries, after she had run from end to end of the supermarket loading as much as she could in the strategically placed trolleys about the supermarket.
In the end she said that she will be sharing with her neighbours since she believes in sharing her bread.
The items she won included milk, meat, oil and soap powder that many commented will last for the remainder of this year and next year.
The other winners in the shopping spree were Jennifer Bowman, Colleen Duncan, Cheniese Williamson, G. Sukram and Bevon Lyte.
At the end of what was a very lively and hilarious activity, Bryden and Fernandes gave away $479,058 in groceries between the six shopping spree winners.
According to Jill Dewar, Managing Director of Power Marketing at Bryden and Fernandes, the promotion is aimed at giving back to its customers and encouraging more persons to shop at Bounty. She said that aside from the items won at the shopping spree the promotion is worth over two million dollars.
There will be two other shopping sprees before the end of the year and Dewar is urging more persons to take advantage of the promotion.
Bryden and Fernandes has been in the grocery business for a number of years with a chain of supermarkets across the country.
