The recently formed Guyana Tapeball League has collaborated with the Guyana Softball League to host the Banks DIH sponsored Power-Stout 6-over cricket competition from Thursday at the Thirst Park.
According to Organizing Secretary of the competition Kurt Wilson, over 50 teams are expected to participate in the knock-out competition which has a first prize of $100,000 and registration closes on Tuesday when the draw will be done.
Wilson said that registration fee is $10,000 and any team from anywhere in Guyana can participate in the competition which should run for six weeks before culminating with the Final under lights.
The runner-up will collect $25,000 while trophies and other incentives are up for grabs and Wilson informed that he can be contacted on telephone number 643-4618.
President of the Guyana Tapeball League Shane Austin can also be contacted on telephone number 670-3973 and it is expected that 6 matches will be played each day with the first game starting at 16:00hrs.
A 15-man squad will have to be submitted to the organisers and only 11 players form that squad can play in any match in the competition which is expected to attract several national players and clubs, especially from the City. (Sean Devers)
