Despite attaining the coveted century mark, national race walk champion Rudolph Mitchell’s appetite for winning has not quelled and he continues to chalk up victories with relative ease.
His latest achievement occurred last Sunday when the Cavaliers Sports and Tour Club staged its 10K Agriculture Month Race Walk around the inner circuit of the National Park.
The astute race walker once again walked his way to a decisive victory, well ahead of Jeremy Cornelius and Brian Roberts, who had to contend with third and fourth positions, respectively.
As expected, Donna Ramkissoon out walked a competitive field to capture the crown in the women’s category while Maurice Fagundes prevailed among the veterans. Ivelaw Charles was the first junior walker to brace the tape meters ahead of his brother, Bobby. Charles Ralph sealed off the podium positions in this category. The walkers received trophies and other prizes donated by P&P Insurance Brokers, Farfan and Mendes Ltd and Ryan Rahaman.
