Police found an elderly man in an unconscious state early yesterday morning on the Coldingen Public Road.
Up to press time yesterday the man was unidentified.
According to reports, the man was spotted by a police patrol driving through the area.
Initially, persons who converged on the scene were of the opinion that the man was dead. However, checks by the police ranks revealed that the man was still alive.
Persons in the area said that the man had been lying on the road since the following night.
“We thought he de drunk so we just leff he,” one person said.
Persons also speculated that the man may have ingested a poisonous substance since there was a thick dark liquid oozing from his moth.
Other than that there were no other visible marks of violence. The man was subsequently picked up and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was treated and admitted.
