Thomas United, Santos, Alpha and Georgetown Football (GFC) Club have booked the remaining spots in the knockout stage of the 2009 Chubby sponsored Under-13 football competition organised by the Georgetown Football Association following the final set of group matches yesterday at the Tucville ground.
In the day’s feature match, Sunburst Camptown defeated GFC 3-1 on the strength of an Azumah Small double. Small rocking the nets in the 48th and 59th minute, Jason Williams had earlier opening the scoring in the 6th minute.
Despite the loss, GFC were still able to sneak through as the fourth team from group A, Camptown ending as the top team in the group ahead of Uprising and Thomas in that order.
In other results from yesterday, Thomas edged Uprising by the lone goal of their match up which was scored by Trevon Calendar.
Santos banged their way to a comfortable 3-0 win over Renaissance. Orin Yarde scored a brace (20, 39), Job Caesar sealing the deal in the 59th minute.
Fruta Conquerors fought their way back to draw with Flamingo 1-1. A 45th minute goal gave Flamingo the lead which they did not enjoy for too long as Conquerors’ captain Ryan Hackett ensured an equal share of the spoils with a 54th minute effort.
Alpha took the final spot in group B with full points from a walk over, Riddim Squad failing to show. Toping group B was Flamingo followed by Conquerors, Santos and Alpha. Competition in the knockout stage will commence later this week.
Is this oil a blessing or a curse?
