Competition in the Coca Cola sponsored Berbice Football Association division one league will continue tomorrow at two venues with four matches on the cards.
At the #5 Playfield from 14:00hrs, Real Union, currently joint second in the points standings on 15 with Cougars, will take on Scottsburg United as they seek to motor on in the championship.
Feature action brings together home team Monedderlust seeking to maintain winning ways following victory last weekend over Mahaicony United 3-1, taking on Strike Force United from 16:00hrs.
At the Blairmont #3 Settlement ground also tomorrow, Rosignol United will face Mahaicony United in the curtain raiser. This will be followed by the main event between hosts Barzilla and points leaders, New Amsterdam United.
In full results from last weekend’s matches, Cougars were in no nonsense mood as they fired past Real Union 6-1.
Winston Benjamin led the winners with a double (31 & 65). Netting one apiece were Kevin Kirton (15), Alvin Reynolds (20), Horace Roache (46), and Ricardo Charles (69). Real Union’s consolation goal was scored by K. Grant in the 50th minute.
In the feature match, home side Monedderlust blasted their way past Mahaicony 3-1.
Henry Watts led the former Berbice champions with a brace, scoring in the 7th and 55th minutes. Kenson Lindey converted the other, two minutes into the second half. Mahaicony United got their lone goal in the 23rd minute through an Elias Ross effort.
The unbeaten New Amsterdam United are atop the points table with 19 from seven matches, six wins and one draw and will fancy their chances of winning the championship with just two games to play.
Cougars and Real Union are next with 15 each, the former has three matches in the bag to the latter’s one.
NAU’s Adrian Adams has hit the back of the nets nine times in seven matches.
