Dear Editor,
I commend the Kaieteur News ‘Peeper’ for the wonderful article about the $400 million that was donated to the rice farmers.
The columnist said it all. But what about last year when rice prices were about $8,000 for a bag of brown rice and $6,000 for white rice? Paddy was also $6,000 per bag. The Government quickly found money to pay the farmers, but why not do the same for our hardworking nurses and teachers? Who are the ones leaving these shores for other CARICOM countries?
The rice farmers do not deserve this money. Remember the billions being spent every year on irrigation in the rice industry.
Come on, Mr. President you have to do better. What about spending the same on the East Bank Berbice Public road? Why not give the East Canje rate payers some relief with a water treatment plant? What has the PPP against persons living in East Canje?
The President is more outside than inside the country. And Mr. President, don’t tell me that you’re not aware of the barefaced frauds that are taking place in several ministries. It is time for a reshuffle.
Just look at the koker, sluice and pumps fraud. What about the low-bed trailer fraud? Are all these things being swept under the carpet? How can the donor agencies be not aware of these things? The President wants another term and I believe he deserves it, but not anymore.
The man for the presidency of this country is no other than Moses Nagamootoo and all Berbicians know this. He was the man for the job. He was near to Cheddi Jagan. He is honest and would have carved out our dear leader’s ideas. But it did not happen.
Value Added Tax (VAT) has created an immense burden on businessmen and the populace is facing the burden of paying huge sums of monies for items due to the high mark up prices.
I end up paying 10 times more for items I normally purchase today when I would’ve paid 10 times less for these same items, say, 10 years ago.
Mr. President, you’re taking the poor in Guyana for a ride. The PNC did the rigging for 28 years but where are they now?
Keep it up SN and Kaieteur News! And let me tell you something. I used to purchase the Chronicle paper but since SN came on the scene I stopped buying it. I only read SN and Kaieteur News. These are the papers that are usually sold out first in New Amsterdam.

Where is the BETTER MANAGEMENT/RENEGOTIATION OF THE OIL CONTRACTS you promised Jagdeo?
