Residents of Diamond Housing Scheme are frustrated with the services offered by Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) and their constant excuses.
Denton Shepherd, of 980 Eleventh Street Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara, related in disgust the way in which customers are being treated by (GWI).
“It has been one week now and many calls to (GWI) in Peters Hall and all we get are promises.”
Shepherd said, “Villagers along with me have to buy water for everything that needs to be done in the home; some of us are left to either beg or go distances to obtain a little water.”
They told me every time I called that the technicians will come and fix the problem and nothing happens.
According to Shepherd, the Government spends so much money behind water treatment plants, water distribution and yet citizens cannot benefit from nothing anything.
Public relations officer of GWI, Timothy Austin, stated that due to electrical problems affecting East Bank, East Coast Demerara and West Coast Demerara, the communities there would have problems with potable water supply.
However, Diamond Housing Scheme attracted the attention of GWI last Friday and the problems were solved.
However, the problem that is affecting residents of Eleventh Street , Diamond, remains.
They would be taken care of by technicians who will be sent as early as possible.
