A fashion show at the Promenade Gardens organised by the committee responsible for the Accolade Music Awards was yesterday picketed by a small but vocal group, which included children.
The show is believed to be closely linked to Information Liaison to the President, Kwame Mc Coy. Mc Coy is in the midst of a legal battle with several media houses over the airing and publication of an audio tape with the voices of two males soliciting sex from each other.
Three media houses were subsequently served with injunctions after airing and publishing the contents of the recording.
The group chanted slogans such as “run lil boys run, Kwame the predator is around”; “Shameful Kwame, wants protection from the judiciary”, “Kwame, you bring shame pun we country”, “God made Adam an Eve not Adam and Steve”, and “Kwame in the garden hiding”. The chanting went on for over an hour and caused drivers and passersby to stop and look in amusement.
One protestor lamented that it is inexcusable for a public official to be allowed to get away with such a despicable act without being held responsible.
According to him, to add insult to the situation, the official is on a committee that is responsible for the welfare of youths one of which he was soliciting sex from recently.
The situation first surfaced when the recording between the office of the President staff and a fifteen year old was played on an internet radio station operated by Civil Activist Mark Benschop.
