Dazzell Housing Scheme followed up their victory over a Veterans X1 side last week, with another victory, this time over Bare Root, when the finals of the tapeball competition organized by the Positive Vibes Sports Club concluded at the Paradise Playfield, Sunday September 13 last.
Also on that day, Winston Horton Paradise and Veterans engaged in an exciting encounter which the latter team won by 10 runs.
Batting first, Bare Root amassed 106 runs before their overs ran out. Travis James lashed 26 and found support in Kenswell DeJonge (20). O. Jerrod registered a hat-trick and was eventually adjudged the principal wicket-taker for Dazzell with remarkable figures of 3-15.
In replay L. Bernard struck a resilient half century with support from R. Keifer (17) to win the match for their team. O. Daniel (3-18) and B. Ramian (3-12) were the most successful bowlers for Dazzell.
In the second match played later in the day, Winston Horton Paradise X1 (WHP) batted first and were routed out for a paltry total of 58. Kurt Anderson top scored with 21 while O. Parris contributed 12. E. Bobb (3-15), Randolph Smith (2-16) and Noel Bobb (2-10) contrived to restrict WHP to their eventual total.
When Veterans batted, O. Harris (2-10) and E Bobb (2-8) bowled tightly, restricting them to 48 runs in their allotted overs.
The four teams will now compete in a 40 overs match this Sunday at the same venue. The action gets underway at 11:00hrs when Veterans oppose Bare Root. Later in the day, WHP play a Bare Root X1. Trophies and other lucrative prizes would be at stake.
Meanwhile, two U-15 matches would be played on Saturday 19th between Bare Root and Paradise and Dazzell against Melanie Damishana.
