3rd place play-off today at Rose Hall Town
The 2009 Republic Bank Under-17 Berbice Inter-Zone Cricket competition continues today with the third place play-off at the Rose Hall Town Ground.
West Berbice who were defeated by New Amsterdam/Canje in the semi-finals and Upper Corentyne who went down to Lower Corentyne are the two zones vying for the third spot. West Berbice will be spearheaded by former Berbice under-15 batsman Khemraj Rampersaud and he will be backed up by the inform opening batsman Shardat Harripaul, middle order batsman Sherwyn Peterkin, Kurt Griffith and left arm spinner Renalto Grovesnor.
The Upper Corentyne strong batting line up will be spearheaded by former Guyana under-15 all-rounder Clinton Pestano and will include Tyrone Edwards, Trishan Narinedat, Tariq Chaitram, Trevor Thomas and Delvin Maynard.
The first innings 60-over-limination-per-side match begins at 09.00 hours while the final between New Amsterdam/Canje and Lower Corentyne is scheduled for next Wednesday at Albion.
Meanwhile, the final preliminary rounds of the Berbice zone of the National Neal and Massy First Division 40-Over Cricket Competition concludes this weekend.
Tomorrow’s 7th round matches:
Zone A: Young Warriors vs Police at Cumberland, Blairmont Community Centre vs East Bank Berbice at Blairmont, West Berbice vs Rose Hall Community Centre at Lovely Lass
Zone B: Upper Corentyne vs Albion Community Centre at No. 70, Rose Hall Town Windies Sports Bar vs Skeldon Community Centre at Rose Hall Town.
In the only match scheduled for Sunday, West Berbice and Young Warriors clash at Blairmont in a crucial match for a semi-final spot. All matches are scheduled to start at 11.00 hours.
