Houston Stars were large and in charge, reaping positive results in their latest match of the Western Union sponsored division-one league in the city.
Playing at the Camptown ground in Campbellville on Sunday last, the Stars Shone in all its brilliance when they out scored their more accomplished opponents, Beacons, 3-2, erasing a 2-0 deficit in the process. The Stars’ self belief and discipline took them to a memorable win.
Beacons, through a Nigel Denny double (26 & 31) found themselves comfortably ahead of the Stars but they did not have any idea of what was to come.
Houston, before the end of the first half had reduced the deficit by one when John Smartt lived true to his name, converting a smart goal in the 33rd minute.
It did not take the Stars much time to equalise and take pole position in the second half.
Noel George drew them level in the 51st minute before they sealed a memorable win 8 minutes later, compliments of Jermaine Gilbert’s 59th minute strike.
Beacons tried their utmost to at least take a share of the spoils but that was never to be as Houston held on to their slim advantage to take full points.
More play is set for Sunday at the same venue.
