The Linden leg of the Mike’s Pharmacy countrywide Softball Cricket Competition will conclude on Sunday with the semi-finals and finals of each category being played.
The tournament which will see the two best teams in each category going through to the knockout stage of the Kiddy Care tournament for the under-15 level; The Well Woman trophy for the females; The Well Man Trophy for the over 40’s and the Mike’s Pharmacy sponsored tournament.
The day will begin with the two best teams at the under-15 level battling it out to be the best youth team out of the mining town from 09:00hrs. The females will begin their quest with the semi finals being played as well as the regular open next on the agenda.
There will also be a double wicket competition for males and females with cash incentives up for grabs.
Grudge matches between East and West Linden at both the male and female levels will be played. Included also will be an exhibition match between Rangers Sports Club, the current Demerara champions and Sunrise Cricket Club, the top team in Linden at the last competition under floodlights.
The finals of both the male and females competitions will also be played under lights.
Plans are also in train for an exhibition match between West Demerara and a Linden combined female team.
The two top teams from the finals of each category will advance to the knockout stage against Georgetown to be played on Sunday, September 13 in the city.
